Our Weekend

We had a very nice, but strangely quiet weekend. Thursday evening I got a call from my mom asking if George could go camping with her and my step-dad for the weekend. On Friday morning, after confirming that he did indeed want to go (I know what 4-year-old boy would turn a camping trip with his grandparents down), we got his stuff together and headed to the mountains. We arrived at the camp site just after lunch time and Annie and I spent the afternoon with "the campers" then headed home in an unusually quiet, George-less car. Saturday morning I was out walking Memphis before 6:00am and we were all loaded in the car headed to help Uncle Andrew (Levi's brother) move between 7:30-7:45am. We finished up with the moving shortly after lunch and decided to ride over to Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park to check-out some campgrounds we have been thinking of trying out. We spent the afternoon enjoying the beautiful ride along Skyline and stopping to look around three campgrounds. The weather was amazing up there (like always) and we really had a great time, although it was once again an unusually quiet ride without George in the backseat. Sunday morning Levi fixed pancakes and sausage for breakfast and then we got the grass cut. After lunch (which Annie slept through, post and picture to come) Levi headed to Lowe's to get the lumber for George's new swing-set and Annie and I headed to pick-up George from Gran and Grandpa's. A few hours later, we all caught back up at Papa and Oma's for some bratwurst on the grill. My sister and her two kids were there as well and a month after she was born, I finally got to hold Miss Elizabeth. It was a great weekend filled with lots of family, it was strange having George away for two nights and three days, but he had a blast camping and we got to spend some quality time with Annie. The quietness was nice while it lasted, but I'm glad to have our loud boy home again.

  1. It's been a while since I've seen Georgie...I kinda want to 'fight' or play something with him too!
